On an individual basis, poverty is caused by the level of education, skill, intelligence and experience one has. Mental and physical handicaps, feebleness due to age and discrimination due to sexual orientation, race, sex and other bigotry also are causes. Causes on a societal level include warfare, agricultural cycles, natural disasters, droughts and flooding. There are at least two approaches to explaining societal poverty, including case and generic theories. The case approach says that individual theories (or cases) of poverty make up the aggregate (or total) reasons for societal poverty. The generic theory of poverty, however, maintains that systemwide societal problems, such as low national income, cause individual cases of poverty. In other words, case theories believe in combating poverty by addressing individual causes. Generic theory, on the other hand, believes in combating poverty by addressing the overarching social and economic issues that cause it.

Art is something which can be analyzed to give deeper insight as to the common values and beliefs shared by the members of a certain society. Regardless of the place of origin or the time period of a form of art, it will always be a reflection of the social structure in which its creator/s lived. However, the way the artist perceives the culture common to his time period is very relative. People pertaining to a higher social class had different values and ideologies than members of a lower class. This different view of life can be seen very clearly in individual forms of art such as painting and music. These specific forms of artistic expression required very little money, thus could be exercised by anyone including members of a lower class. Other forms of art such as architecture and sculpture required more money and in most cases wealthy patrons such as kings or queens. Architecture also required large numbers of workers which often made it hard to see any individual influence in the design, however showed the collective ideology of all of the people involved. The cost of labour and materials was also so great that very affluent members of society were needed to financially support the whole process. Sculpture was also an artistry that required great amounts of material and labour. This resulted in a more normative form of art which portrayed societal aspects in a way that was of interest to the financial backers.
It is stated most certainly in the passage that ____.

Recent activity in several US church communities has seemed almost unbelievable: churchgoers have gathered around huge fires and cheered as they cast Harry Potter books into the flames. They fear that the incredibly popular series about a school for young wizards is spurring children and adolescents toward a life of witchcraft and onto the dangerous path toward Satanism. For these congregations, J. K. Rowling's books are none other than the work of the devil herself. To most people, however, the Harry Potter books and films are merely compelling adventure stories, not a threat to children's psyches. But what has been forgotten in the excitement of 'Pottermania' is that boys and girls have been fascinated by magic and sorcery for generations. Surveys about magical practices among adolescents vary widely, but some indicate that as many as 44 per cent have shown some slight, passing interest in it. Although satanically motivated violence occasionally makes headlines, research shows that less than 5 per cent of young people take part in more extensive witchcraft, and very few end up in the kind of organized devil worship that can lead to such acts as ritual murder.

Nutrient deficiencies lead to an array of diseases and health conditions, including dementia and death, explains Healthline. Vitamin deficiencies are associated with several deficiency diseases, underscoring the need to ensure sufficient vitamin intake. Mineral deficiencies are also associated with diseases, including goiter, rickets and anemia. A nutritional deficiency can be caused by intake of inadequate nutrients, or a defect in the body’s absorption mechanism.Goiter is characterized by an enlarged thyroid gland. Marasmus and kwashiorkor are symptoms of malnutrition in young children. Over 40 percent of the world’s population is anemic as a result of iron deficiencies, according to the World Health Organization. According to George Krucik, M.D., of Healthline, eating a healthy diet and taking approved dietary supplements help in alleviating deficiency diseases. The Copernican revolution began over 500 years ago with the realization that the Earth was not the centre
of the universe, but we still await its grand finale: the anticipated discovery of life elsewhere. Where else
might we find life? The vast scale of the universe makes it virtually certain that there are other Earthlike
settings. In our own solar system, Mars’s distance from the Sun makes it sufficiently Earth-like;
so, especially with increasing evidence for occasional liquid water, many are looking there for the first signs
of extraterrestrial life. Recently, however, a new contender has emerged, and surprisingly it is from
the cold outer solar system: it is Jupiter’s moon Europa. As one of the four satellites of Jupiter,
discovered by Galileo in 1610, Europa is now believed to have water in a liquid state, even though
it is so far from the Sun. Thus, the possibility of liquid water on Europa has opened the door to speculation
about life on this satellite of Jupiter.
It is stated in the passage that currently Mars ----.
A) has been established as the only planet with a
vast amount of water under its surface

If one or more of the four heart valves are diseased or damaged it can affect the flow of blood in two ways. If the valve does not open fully, it obstructs the flow of blood - known as valve stenosis. If the valve does not close properly, it will allow blood to leak backwards - called valve incompetence or valve regurgitation. Both stenosis, a narrowing which makes the heart pump faster to get blood past the obstruction, and incompetence, which means the heart has to do more to pump the required volume of blood forwards, put extra strain on the heart. The blood behind the affected valve will also be under increased pressure, called back pressure, leading to a build-up of fluid in the lungs or lower part of the body, depending on the valve affected. Symptoms include tiredness or breathlessness when exercising, swelling of the ankles and legs, dizziness or fainting in extreme cases. Angina - chest pain - can occur. Heart valve disease can be caused by being born with one or more abnormal valves, called congenital heart disease. Disease can also be the result of rheumatic fever, now uncommon in the UK, or ageing of the heart, if valves thicken. Drugs, including diuretics, ACE inhibitors and dioxin, can be used to treat valvular heart disease, but if the obstruction or leaking of the valves is too severe, medicines may not be enough and surgery may be required. The danger varies for individual patients depending on factors such as age and other medical conditions.
It is made clear in the passage that ____.
A) valvular stenosis is a condition in which blood leaks back in the wrong direction
B) heart valves control blood flow through the one chamber of the heart
C) valve stenosis may involve backward leakage of blood
D) the less the narrowing or leakage becomes, the harder the heart has to work
